Job Description

Hardaway|Sziabowski Architects is seeking an experienced Healthcare Project Manager/Architect with 5–10 years of recent healthcare experience to join our growing national healthcare practice. This position is ideal for a strong technical and ambitious person who is passionate about healthcare design, enjoys complex projects, and is ready to grow into a leadership role in a collaborative and entrepreneurial studio environment.

You will play a key role in the planning, coordination, and delivery of technical and complex healthcare projects across the country ranging from ambulatory surgery centers and specialty clinics to imaging, procedural, pharmacy, behavioral health, and multidisciplinary healthcare environments. Working closely with firm leadership, clients, consultants, and project teams, you will help shape thoughtful, technically rigorous solutions that balance operational performance, regulatory compliance, patient experience, and design excellence.

This role offers direct exposure to national clients, project leadership responsibilities, and the opportunity to help shape the continued growth of our healthcare practice. Candidates seeking a more personal, collaborative, and design-focused alternative to larger corporate firms will find significant opportunity for professional growth and leadership development within our studio.

Responsibilities

  • Lead healthcare projects through all phases of planning, design, and construction administration
  • Coordinate internal project teams and engineering consultants to maintain quality, schedule, and project momentum
  • Guide technical development and document coordination while maintaining design intent and project clarity
  • Lead client, consultant, and contractor meetings with clear communication, and follow-through
  • Support project planning, staffing, scheduling, budgeting, and overall project execution
  • Apply healthcare planning principles, building systems knowledge, and increasing technical regulatory requirements
  • Contribute to QA/QC efforts and the development of coordinated, technically sound documentation
  • Support collaborative team development
  • Manage multiple assignments effectively while maintaining organization, accountability, and responsiveness

Qualifications

  • Professional degree in Architecture
  • 5–10 years of professional experience in healthcare design and construction
  • Strong experience coordinating consultants and leading interdisciplinary project teams
  • Demonstrated experience with healthcare codes, guidelines, and regulatory agencies including:
  • FGI Guidelines
  • Multi-State Department of Public Health (DPH)/Department of Health (DOH) review processes, permitting and regulatory coordination
  • Experience with all or most: ambulatory surgery centers, medical office buildings, imaging, procedural, pharmacy, or other technically complex healthcare environments
  • Strong understanding of building systems, construction technology, and healthcare operations
  • Proficiency in Revit required
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented studio environment
