GENERAL FUNCTION:

The basic function of the Optician are to attract and retain patients by delivering an exceptional patient experience, to foster patient retention, and to promote outstanding doctor satisfaction.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Contributing to a warm and welcoming health care environment for patients and co-workers
• Assist patients with selecting frames according to style and color
• Selecting and explaining the proper lens offerings and lens treatments based on the patient's needs and prescription
• Ordering patient's eyewear with accuracy
• Checking in eyewear and dispensing
• Ordering new eyewear, and/or repairs
• Working with insurance and notifying patients of their insurance benefits

The skills and qualifications required for this position include:

• Previous experience in optical is not necessary but is preferred
• Excellent time management and organizational skills to manage independent projects
• Accurate oral and written communication skills
• Effective focus and attention to detail on multiple tasks simultaneously
• Cooperative approach to setting and reaching team & induvidual goals
• Sound judgment in protecting patient privacy and confidentiality
• Good eye and hand coordination
• Punctual
• Basic math skills
• Professional attitude and appearance
• High School diploma or equivalent
