Job Title: Machine Operator

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Machine Operator to perform safe and efficient operation of machinery used for flexible packaging , including equipment that produces labels and printed boxes. Experience in a manufacturing setting is highly valued. Candidates with at least 6 months of machine operation experience are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate converting machinery safely and efficiently to produce flexible packaging.
• Set up, utilize, and maintain mounting equipment for each production run.
• Inspect plates before each print run to ensure they meet quality standards.
• Clean and organize plates after use for future production needs.
• Monitor the production line and troubleshoot machinery issues to minimize downtime.
• Utilize a tape measure to ensure accurate machine setup and material alignment.
• Collaborate with the team on assembly tasks to meet manufacturing goals.

Essential Skills

• 1+ year of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in reading a tape measure for machine setup and quality checks.
• Experience with troubleshooting machinery and production line issues.
• Knowledgeable in mechanical adjustments and comfortable using production tools.
• Strong attention to detail when inspecting equipment and finished products.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Press Operator experience is a plus.
• Experience in flexible packaging, labels, or printing environments is beneficial.
• Ability to work 2nd shift (1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.) following a two-week 1st shift training period.
• Capability to wear required steel toe boots and follow the workplace dress code.

Work Environment

This role is based in a smaller manufacturing facility with a close-knit and stable team. You will work around production machinery and mounting equipment in a safe environment. All necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) , including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection, is provided.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ames, IA.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Ames,IA.
