Job Title: Instrument Assembly Technician III / Assembler III

Location: Sparks, MD

Schedule: Monday Friday | 7:00 AM 3:30 PM

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Instrument Assembly Technician III to support production and assembly operations in a manufacturing environment. This role involves performing a variety of mechanical and electromechanical assembly tasks, troubleshooting complex assembly issues, conducting quality inspections, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience reading technical drawings, and hands-on experience with manufacturing tools and processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble and integrate multiple product lines and subassemblies into complete instruments

  • Perform instrument assembly activities following engineering drawings, work instructions, and quality standards

  • Build, modify, rework, test, and troubleshoot production and prototype assemblies

  • Record and maintain device history records including serial numbers, tooling, and reporting documentation

  • Conduct component testing and analyze test results for pass/fail determination

  • Identify defects and recommend process and design improvements

  • Train and support team members on assembly procedures and testing activities

  • Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Planning, and Purchasing teams

  • Handle raw materials and subassemblies while maintaining production flow

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment

  • Follow GMP standards, company procedures, and safety regulations

  • Support overtime requirements based on business needs

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED with 3+ years of manufacturing experience, OR

  • Associate's Technical Degree with 1+ year of relevant experience

  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment required

Required Skills
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical tools including torque drivers, gauges, bits, and hand tools

  • Highly proficient in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and interpreting measurements/dimensions

  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve assembly-related issues

  • Experience with continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing principles

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage changing priorities

  • Leadership or mentoring experience preferred

Technical Skills
  • Basic PC and Windows computer proficiency

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English

  • Basic math and data interpretation skills

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods in a repetitive production environment

  • Ability to perform material handling and assembly tasks throughout the shift
